DISEASE: Bacterial leaf blight

HOST: Barley

Diseased barley plants with typical bleaching of flag leaves. Initial symptoms are water-soaked lesions that later coalesce. Eventually, the entire leaf becomes necrotic and edges roll inward.

DISEASE: Bacterial wilt

Advanced stage of wilt (center plant).

DISEASE: Black chaff (Bacterial leaf streak)

HOST: Barley

Black chaff is characterized by water-soaked and darkened glumes on barley heads and streaks and stripes on leaves.

Leaf with linear, water-soaked lesions that turn necrotic and brown. Flakes of dry bacterial exudate are apparent on the lesions. The pathogen also causes black glume of barley.

Diseased plant with button berries and green petals that turn red. The disease is caused by a subgroup of aster yellows.

Multiplier disease causes production of numerous crowns along runners.

Diseased plant with bronzing of older leaves and upward rolling or cupping of younger leaves. Leaves are chlorotic on upper surfaces and reddish or purplish on lower surfaces. In time, the entire plant dies.

Symptoms of disease are stunting and marginal chlorosis of younger leaves and purple or bronze pigmentation of older leaves. Infected plants usually die.
